For someone who have the appreciation for the joys of literally dining out, nothing beats setting up patio tables and chairs. After all, there is hardly anything better than enjoying a cup of coffee without having to tolerate the stuffiness, real or imagined, in your local diner. Having your own outdoor dining set also means extra seating for parties, and the opportunity to throw awesome barbeque get-togethers. Unfortunately, patio furniture, particularly patio tables, can be expensive; but since they can be considered an investment, they rightly deserve protection. The good news is that there are patio table covers in the market that you can easily check out.
When you go shopping for patio table covers, you will notice that there are two major categories - one for patio table and chairs set covers, and one for individual units such as ottomans, side tables and coffee tables. Chair and table set covers vary greatly in size and shape. There are covers for circular tables, some for rectangular tables, and some for picnic tables or your usual pub-type sets. If you plan to get one for your patio furniture, you need to consider the following:
Dimensions
This is unarguably important, but what is actually the focus here is the accuracy of your measurements. Patio furniture vendors provide information about the dimensions of their products, but what if you have had the furniture for some time now and haven’t really bothered to learn how to find out the measurements? Fortunately, there are websites for patio table covers which have step-by-step how-to-measure guides, along with style and product recommendations for the particular furniture.
Weather
The weather in your area is another factor in your decision-making. If you are in a location where the climate is humid or rainy, then you’d have to choose covers that are moisture resistant. If a major concern is sun exposure, which can cause fading, then you’d have to choose patio furniture covers that can withstand that as well. Now, while most furniture covers are of course water resistant and some are even water-proof, only those that are made of breathable material can stop the formation of mildew and molds brought by a humid weather.
Material
The material from which your particular patio table is constructed is also a factor. Plastic or Vinyl furniture is not going to suffer from moisture damage, so you may not have to buy covers for them, but unless they were treated with UV inhibitors such as titanium dioxide, they might also be subject to fading due to overexposure. In this case, covers can keep them looking brand new by preventing them from fading. Conversely, wood furniture should never be exposed to moisture, and metal furniture, while not subject to decay, is also in danger of rust formation, so you’d still have to get covers to keep them in good shape.
Patio table covers will keep you outdoor dining furniture set protected from whatever nature dishes out. Their benefits also outweigh their cost by far, especially when you consider what you can save by not having to buy outdoor tables every two or three years.
